Reflectivity images corresponding to the lowest elevation of the radar scan (0.5° C on the horizontal plane). The color scale indicates reflectivity intervals in decibels Z.
Images of the height of the echo stop (echotop) with a reflectivity higher than 12 decibels (dBZ). The color scale indicates altitude intervals in km.
Images of accumulation of precipitation in one and six hours. The color scale indicates intervals of amount of precipitation, in millimeters.
Note:
AEMET is extending, renovating and modernising its radar network as part of the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed with funds approved by the European Council on 21 July 2020, to deal with the consequences of the international pandemic caused by COVID-19. The installation of the new equipment is preceded by the refurbishment of the existing infrastructure. During the execution of each refurbishment, a period of disconnection of the radar equipment is foreseen in order to avoid possible damage and to allow the refurbishment to be carried out. The absence of data from the disconnected radar has an impact on the information used for the provision of AEMET services; the consequences are similar to shutdowns during preventive or corrective maintenance, but of longer duration. This absence of data from a disconnected radar is covered by the adjacent operational radars except for small areas that will have a lack of coverage of adjacent radars. In the areas of possible lack of coverage, satellite information and the discharge detection network are available for weather monitoring tasks.
